I set up Van2Shout 1.051 in my Vanilla Forum version 2.1b1 and it works fine, until someone tries to type in Scandinavian letters. If the message contains even one Scandinavian letter, then the message will be displayed as empty. The post's content in my.domain/forum/index.php?p=/plugin/Van2ShoutData&postcount=50 is empty. Is this a bug that could be repaired easily? If not, is it possible that it would be fixed in future updates?

Other small question is about the update interval: what scale is it? Does the 5000 mean 5000 ms, meaning that it would update itself every 5 sec?

A am using the Q&A-Plugin and have translated all strings I could find in the central locale.php - some of these work, some are not translated even though the string is taken exactly from the plugin's source-files and there are no variables inside them either. e.g. the [answered] - badges in the overview stay english, also the [accepted answer] or [rejected answer] badges right with the post / comment stay english. For the latter I could not find a complete string at all in the plugins files, so I suppose they are composed from single words. Those are all included in my translations, but still show up in english. (Also: there is some strange whitespace in those buttons like this: [accepted answer ] with the brackets symbolizing the buttons borders...) Any clues as to what I may have overlooked?

I'm trying to install pt_PT locale but as you can see on the screenshot there is no Locales option.

I added the pt_PT folder to /locales/ - that's the thing to do, right? I had to create the /locales folder.

Thanks!

Hi,
I`m switchting to Vanilla from phpBB3. My last messageboard was hijacked more or less by some piratecompanies in Russia, China and Korea mainly.3000 "different" users = adresses. To reach my messageboard you were supposed to register and log in at my memberpages (none of these users did) and then there was a link to the messageboard where you also had to register and log in. I found out that you could bypass the member-part if you just wrote: http://xxxxx.zz/phpBB3 . Inoticed that it works the same way with Vanilla. How do I stop someone from reaching Vanillamessageboard without first becoming a member and then reach the messageboard from the memberpart of my site?
Can anyone help me and I hope this is the wright category. I think it might be aquestion of localization of Vanilla.

Hello,
I am opening this topic as I was unable to solve my problem by reading previous entries about it.
As I need a German localisation for a small IT trainee class I tried to set up the most recent German localization pack. While enabling it went smoothly, the dropdown box for changing the default localisation pack remains empty.

Installation: Most recent Vanilla 2 Forums application on rented PHP 5.2.1 server

Attempted Solutions: Re-Installation of forum software + localization pack;
CHMOD permissions changed to 666/777 where required according to documentation;
Manual adaption of '$Locales = array_unique($Locales/*, SORT_STRING*/);' in class.localemodel.php

Help ressources used: Vanilla documentation,

I was looking for a solution that would allow the user/member to select a language for which to view the forum. While I understand the content entered by members would be in the original language, everything else would be translated into the preferred language using an appropriate language file. For example "discussion title" and "tags" and "category" would all use the words from the language specified. Thank you!
