Error when installing Vanilla 2

I am trying to install Vanilla 2 and I get this error:
The requested URL /vanilla2/garden/gardensetup/2 was not found on this server.

It looks like the installer expects to find the "garden" directory in the root of the Vanilla folder (but it is inside the "applications" folder).

    That's not the case. Everything in Vanilla passes through the "default.php" file in the root directory. This is most likely a mod_rewrite issue.
