Markdown and edit in private messages?

Couldn't find a thread about this; but howcome private message does not support neither Markdown nor editing of existing messages?

    It's because it is a separate application in Garden than Vanilla. Most of the plugins are designed for Vanilla, not for the Conversations application. Go to Dashboard -> Applications in your forum to understand it better.

    Ok, so we know the cause, but that doesn't solve the problem. :/

    Lacking Markdown in conversations is OK in itself, but when the discussions support Markdown people expect it to work in the conversations as well, and when they see that it doesn't work they cannot change their message (because Edit doesn't work). :P

    Yes, the Conversations application requires some love and attention from the Vanilla team... Though, I am not sure this is a bug in the Markdown plugin (since this overrides default functionality) rather than in the Conversation application.
