Social connect plugins PHP Fatal Error: allow_url_fopen

Hi!

I'm currently using a webserver (loopia.com, one of the major in sweden) that has allow_url_fopen disabled by default claiming it's of a security issue.

They suggest using curl instead. I figured there are maybe more hosting companies claiming this and in that case:

Is there any possibility to rewrite the plugins to use cURL instead? (for more widely usage)

I had to move one of Facebook's methods to curl so I can move the other to curl too. I'll let you know.
