The Homepage feature no longer works for categories/discussions

The home page feature lets you set your home page to discussions, categories/all, categories/discussions and activity. I have only just set up my site and categories/discussions used to work but now it does. The others work ok. categories/discussions does work however if i manuaally type it in, i.e http://mysite/forum/categories/discussions. however when the home page is set to categories/discussions all i see in my address bar is http://mysite/forum

Can Anyone help please?

    Sorry but i worked it out. I had 3 topics posted under a category of New Users. The 3 topics were posts about how to use the site, I marked these as announce. looks like announce topics wont be displayed on a home page where the default page is set to categories/discussions. This is therefore a newbie user error - unless they should?
