Does '#' in Embedded Vanilla URL affect SEO ?

I'm thinking of embedding Vanilla on one of my sites. I have especially liked the cleanness and SEF URLs in Vanilla and was wondering if the '#' that is inserted in the URL has any affect on search engines?

Are people embedding vanilla finding that search engines are effectively crawling, indexing and producing search results against their embedded Vanilla?

I realized after I posted this, the embedded Vanilla is in an iframe and search engines will crawl the direct URLs of the forum, not the embedded URLs.

By checking "Force your forum to be viewed through the Remote Url" option on the Embed plugin, user's clicking search results will be 'popped into' the site with the embedded forum although the search engine indexing is of the 'bare' URL
