Tags on comments?

Today I wished there were tags on comments. Sometimes when the discussion evolves new information emerges where a new tag might be relevant.

A cool behavior would be if comment specific tags were edited on the comment, but it contributed to the overall conversation's set of tags (the union of all tags in the conversation). If a comment is removed, those tags are removed from the pool of tags.

What do others think?

I think that users might overdo it and add so many tags that the list gets super long on the discussion page.

I think that logic must be as follows:
Inside comment user must have ability to specify tags using #tag syntax.
Tagging plugin will collect all tegs in thread, but only discussion tags and 3 other most popular tags will be visible in tag search and tag list.
