SMF 1.x export and Vanilla import

I have used the Vanilla exporter to successfully export my SMF text file. And, I have uploaded it to the 'upload' folder in the Vanilla directory on my server. I then go to the dashboard and click import... Vanilla then attempts to import the data and says it has done so. But, there is no information / users / discussions / categories etc. in Vanilla.

Does this mean it hasn't imported the information and if not, why not - have I done something wrong?

    It sounds like a problem on the export end. Make sure the import file contains data.

    I opened up the import file (which was 25mb) and there was a lot of fields and data in there.

    I will try again and export it.
