Can categories be translated for localization?

I`ve tried to create new categorie - News and add $Definition['News'] = 'news'; to localization file, but it does not work, at least it seams so. Is it possible to translate categories names?

You just rename the category.

Unless you are serving multiple languages there is no need for this.

well it is a bit tricky but possible.

It is very easy. Just add this line after inside the foreach loop in AddCategoryColumns function (applications/vanilla/models/class.categorymodel.php):

$Category->Name = T($Category->Name);

Thanks it`s working as a dirty fix for now.
