Change Favicon on my own website

How to change the original vanilla favicon on the forum installed on my website

    Place a file called favicon.ico in your active theme's design folder.

    .ico and .png are not equivalent. I have both in my design folder. Once you have the ico file in there you may need to delete you browser cache to see the change.
