Lost google indexing on single post*

edited December 2013 in Vanilla 2.0 - 2.8

I 'm a beginner in Seo, i' m studying and trying to apply main concepts, but i 've understood that you need much experience in this area...
Although this, some customers begin to ask me help for seo.

I need some advices about google ranking of a site. A Customer of mine has bought this site (obviously a vanilla forum) two months ago and the daily traffic was around 15000 (unique users).
The 80% of the source of this traffic was organic; infact i noticed the wonderful indicization of this site for some words. In the last month this site has been losing unique users (now 11000 daily)
and i checked that the it's losing organic traffic and so indicization.

I've thought about everything he has done during these months and i've realized that he changed many titles of many posts very searched in google. His goal was to optimize keywords. This causes that the url of the post changed. I guess it should have been followed by redirections from old to new url.

This post loses indicization even if the post is reachable?

The original url was: http://www.example.com/travels-example/123/this-is-the-original-title
now title is: http://www.example.com/travels-example/123/now-there-is-updated-title
So the new url brings to the same post, but it's changed.

If so, after a month has it much sense to change title to back to the original title?

Also, some posts have been moved under different category and this causes that users update them less frequently. Could this be another cause of losing traffic?

Thank you in advance for any tips!
