jump to first unread not working

Vanilla Version: 2.0.18.9
with TraditionalChocolate

My users cant jump to the first unread post in a thread - could someone please help me?
$Configuration['Vanilla']['Comments']['AutoOffset'] = TRUE;
is set in configuration.php but it doesnt work.

I also dont get the first-comment-date to appear if threads are listet. It shows the user who started the thread with the date from the last comment and the user who commented last with the last date (which it should do)

upgrade to the latest version of vanilla, would be a start.

ideally, upgrade to version 2.1.5 and find a theme that is compatible with vanilla 2.1.5

then test on a different theme to see if it works.

and if you are running as embedded forum, test it with non-embedded.

If the problem goes away after upgrading vanilla, with a default theme.

then go to the theme that gives you problems in the add-ons section of this forum, and then choose ask question.

I may not provide the completed solution you might desire, but I do try to provide honest suggestions to help you solve your issue.

  • thanks, i did that and now it broke my discussions :( i dont really know what to do, it says: Failed to load resource: net::ERR_CACHE_MISS at the discussion links... i only see plain text when i click on it.
the issue with the first-comment-date and last-comment-date still exist, but thats nothing i care about now :cold_sweat:

did you upgrade to vanilla 2.1.5?

did you check whether the theme you want to use is compatible with 2.1

if so follow the instructions here after you copy the vanilla 2.1.5 source files.

especially the part about deleting .ini files from the cache folder.

you might look here s well:

test with the default theme - does it work yes/no?

your first goal might be test w/default theme then if that works move on and test with other themes and plugins.

traditional chocolate may not be compatible with 2.1.5

you may need to check here - to see if fellow users are adding to this spreadsheet, it takes a community and members of the community might want to help:

at least you cried it all out  (or was it tears of sweat) and you have a much more secure forum with other plugin options that only work with 2.1.x and better and more features in 2.1

glad it worked out in the end.
