WP + Comments in WP Vanilla Plugin = "Undefined discussion subject" title and no data

We've noticed a strange issue with current WP vanilla plugin, I'm using this hack/fix to get validation working: https://github.com/vanilla/wordpress-vanilla/issues/1
Initially after verifying forum location in WP plugin, commenting works perfect, creating the appropriate discussion in the right category and scraping all data from related post.
Fast forward a few hours and a comment is made on a new/old post and suddenly returns an "Undefined discussion subject" in title of vanilla discussion with all data missing ("Read the full story" link works properly). Using an admin account and asking to fetch the page again returns a "This page has no info" notification. Logging into WP dashboard, we see the forum url still shows it validated. Hitting re-validate and then returning to the discussion in vanilla to fetch the same page info, now returns "The page was successfully fetched." and all data is scraped and loaded properly.
This is repeatable, and we haven't had any success nailing down at what point the forum potentially in-validates itself. We've tried new posts, old posts, deleting the discussion and creating new ones, new accounts, admin accounts, varied permission changes. All we know for sure is it relates to the validation needing to be re-validated, and happens intermittently.
Any thoughts?

**TL;DR **
Forums URL needs to be re-validated every day or so in WP Vanilla plugin, or our post titles won't scrape properly when a comment on WP side triggers them in our Vanilla forums. Reason, unknown.
