Deleting blog comment threads when blog post has been removed

Hi, I'm running Vanilla as an embedded forum and I also use the blog comment feature. (running Vanilla latest version).
I've deleted a blog post and yet it seems the Vanilla comments persist for the post so my question is how do I now access the Vanilla blog comment thread to remove it completely. There doesn't seem to be a way apart from direct database removal?
