Forum digest (not RSS)?

Not so much an add-on for the board itself but does anyone know a way to create a forum digest which could be used on another site; eg. a list of the headers from the latest x new posts which link back to the forum. I know RSS extensions could be used but that's probably a little OTT for this purpose.

With google gadget, you can display the last 1-100 items.
