Banning a User for a Certian Amount of time?

Messing around with an extension, would there be any way to Ban a user on the result of a function and then unban after say 30 seconds?

    it could be called suspend maybe, and i don't think we have it yet

    On the application settings page, there are spam settings that do precisely that after the user posts X comments in Y minutes. You could probably look in to what it does...
