Formatting text

edited August 2008 in Vanilla 1.0 Help
Hi,

Does anyone know how to format/ tag different things when writing Discussions or Commenting in Vanilla? Is there a way to format text, alignment, tabs, etc. within discussions and comments in Vanilla? For example, when I type in a url address within a comment, is there some way to make it an actual link that forum users can click on rather than having to copy and paste it into the address bar? Also, what about italicized and/ or bolding text? I know in other forums, there's usually little bits of text called tags?!? that will format their encased text. Here's what I'm thinking: [url]http://www.google.com[/url]

So, if anyone knows the different tags/ shortcuts to type around bits of text for formatting, I would greatly appreciate your insight. Also, if there would by chance be a link to another forum posting, documentation, or webpage that has all of these shortcuts/ tags listed on it, could you please forward that link on to me?

Thanks again!

-Kyle

  • This question is the biggest issue I have with Vanilla; I can't get the FCKeditor to work for the life of me. http://lussumo.com/community/discussion/5575/fckeditor/
  • kdaffolder, this depends on the formatters you will install. Try for example to look for bbcode or html in the Vanilla Add-ons.
