Upgrading

Just starting the long haul upgrading Vanilla from 1.5 to the latest and have one question - The upgrades seem to consist mainly of replacing files? After I have done that for each upgrade do I need to run install or anything?

What version are you upgrading to? 1.x or 2?

Unless the upgrade instructions say otherwise, it is most likely just replacement of files.
