i want to reverse the forum direction, instead of up -> down, i want it down -> up.
and the comment box will be above.

based of of memory here...
you should be able to do that with a plugin but you may have to dig deep to change the sort order on the discussion. Plus it's going to mess with the pager, so you will need to redefine some of the paging and offset rules.
sounds like a lot of work to me, but it might not be all that bad. Look at the voting plugin, it has hooks into the sort order for discussion comments. that should point you in the right direction.
