My Version Looks nothing like the .com version

edited November 2014 in Vanilla 2.0 - 2.8

I've just installed 2.2.16.7 vanillaforum
form https://github.com/vanilla/vanilla
and I can't see any of these features advertised?

http://vanillaforums.com/features/user-experience

Would you let me know why please?
Thanks
Charles

    @CharlieCharles‌

    Welcome to the community.

This is the .org site, which deals with the self-hosted, open source version of Vanilla.

The page you point to is the .com site, which is the paid for version, hosted by Vanilla, with proprietary addons.

With a little effort, the open source version can be developed to provide similar functionality, using free addons.

If you want a well-managed 'care-free' forum management, hosting with Vanilla makes sense.

If you are prepared to roll up your sleeves and do a bit of work, you can work with the open source version.

Separately, you have installed an alpha version, which is not meant for production sites.

See the top of this thread for the link to the latest stable version 2.1.6

    I've edited your thread title.

  • 2.2 is alpha you should not use this version on production servers at all. The highest stable version is 2.1.6

http://vanillaforums.com is it is the SaaS hosted only.

It is not to do with the OS version (http://vanillaforums.org), Not all those feature are available on the OS version, as they are cloud based features, for their customers.

However there are often equivalent addons depending.

Also you may simply not installed any addons. vanilla is called vanilla for a reason. Not tuti-fruti.

    grep is your friend.
