embed email confirmation error

Hey there,

I have a forum using embed, and all is working fine apart from the confirmation email link. It links to the root vanilla URL rather than embed page, and when the user gets forwarded from the root install (which says "thanks for confirmation") to the embed page, an error message displays: "We couldn't confirm your email. Check the link in the email we sent you or try sending another confirmation email."

Yet looking at the account the user is confirmed.

So how to avoid this error message? And preferably have the email included the embed URL, not the root vanilla URL?

(and yes, I have "Force your forum to be viewed through the Remote Url" checked)

ISPConfig3 & Vanilla: ERROR 500 - Internal Server Error!

I am currently trying to install Vanilla to one of my client websites on ISPConfig, and am experiencing 'ERROR 500 - Internal Server Error!'.

I had a rake around Google, and came across this.

However my .htaccess file doesn't include a Options +FollowSymLinks -Multiviews

Any help would be much appreciated :)

Our forum is embedded (www.xyz.com/forum) however the link that comes through to the end users in the email verification during registration points to where vanilla is installed (www.xyz.com/vanilla). When a user clicks on it, it takes them to the forum, un-embedded. How can we change the URL to use the Embedded site URL instead?

HTML shows up as code in my discussions???

After spending several days setting up my forum my post show up as mark up. How can I make HTML show up? I'm willing to try this once again but otherwise i'll me using different software how is it that this doesnt come set up for users to use html in post? that doesnt make much sense.

In the current version of vanilla, I can access pages (ie. /P5, /P4) that don't have content, I want to return 404 for those pages. How can I make this?

How to space items in meta on Categories page?

I'm using Vanilla 2.0.18, and while I've modified the theme quite a bit, to get the layout I want, I don't think I've modified anything in the core.

But the meta data on my Categories page runs some of the information together without leaving spaces. like this:

I presume its the "Most recent: Comments on xxxxx by ercatli" that's at fault, not leaving a space at either end. But I can't understand why this happens or where to start to fix it.

Is this something anyone can help me with please?

No notification to user for email confirmation!!

I have noticed a problem with vanilla after I saw the log of user registration at my site about the notification not been popped up telling users to confirm email before accessing forum. I created a dummy account to clear my doubt and nowhere after I clicked on sign up button it asked me to confirm my email first before I can post in the forum.

Not here the problem starts. My users think they have successfullly signed up but then see there is no option to add new posts or comment. So they leave the forum and half of them never returns.

One of my member had previously asked me how he can contribute coz he couldn't find the option to start new threads. At that point this issue didn't come into my mind and now I know what's causing the confusion?

Please suggest some solution to add a notice after the users are signed up to confirm email before continuing.

No canonical URLs for paged discussions

I can't see the canonical tag for paged discussions (ie. /p2), FURTHERMORE I can access pages that ends with /p3, /p4 and they are accessible even that they don't have content yet. How can I solve both:

1) Enable canonical for paged discussions 2) Return 404 for pages that don't have don't have content yet.

I want that when the user has already visited a discussion, that the URL with the #item_ won't hide the text at the top. right now, when the user visited a discussion, it brings him to the last comments, but hides all the above comments. I don't want that. Is it possible to fix, or maybe change the time that is related to the #item generation (which I want to set to never))?

Keeps starting New Discussion when already making one?

Just put a forum online, however I'm having a problem in which when I'm typing the text of my message to be posted, the Auto-Draft Save bar comes up, and once every 3 times it will bring up the window to create a new discussion, when I already am typing in one, I have to "X" it out to be able to go back to the one I was typing.

Is there a way to fix this? Or just to disable AutoSave Draft altogether? Thanks.

HI everyone,

I'm having trouble exporting from bbpress. Basically, the operation is taking so long that the browser times out (tried firefox and chrome.)

I don't have a save to server button in vanilla2export.php

I have a deep integration bbpress install through pagelines, so the database is shared with my wordpress database (could be the problem?)

Is there anyway I can just get the tables I need from phpmyadmin and get them into vanilla 2? I'm guessing that the vanilla2export needs to configure them for vanilla 2... i don't know?

That's why I'm here, if you do know, any help would be awesome!

Dupe content for the search engines with the permalink

Actually, the link "permalink" on every post of the vanilla 2 create dupe content for the search engines.

For example:
This is the normal url
http://vanillaforums.org/discussion/13863/vanilla-2.0.16-released

And this is the url of the permalink:
http://vanillaforums.org/discussion/13863/vanilla-2.0.16-released/p1

Dupe content... the best is change this url of the permalink for the first, or add rel=nofollow.

Problem with Canonical URLs

I put the domain http://mydomain.com/categories/features in the browser and check the canonical tag, and it is showing 'http://mydomain.com/categories and it's not ending with the category name. Any reason why. It happens to all categories. Using the latest version of Vanilla.

So I have the Twitter authentication plugin working. Though I have a private board I'm setting up so I need it that anyone who signs up has to be approved.

With the facebook plugin I was able to get the user to go to "applicants", but with the twitter user they were immediately made a member. And could start posting.

Thoughts?

I tried the WP integration plugin and it works great, but I was thinking, what about capturing also the discussion going on in the post comments and have it all in Vanilla.

I can use the tags and the "Spoiler: Show" appears but nothing happens when you click on it. You can see it happening here http://www.mongbat.com/forums/#/discussion/comment/90824 and on the message below it.

If more comments with the spoiler tag happen, the "Show" button starts to duplicate.

Anyone?

EDIT: Turning off Emotify fixes it. Hmm.
