Vanilla & Garden Licensing

A lot of time, energy, and deliberation went into deciding how to license Vanilla & Garden so that it benefited everyone. Originally we planned on releasing it under an MIT license. We later met with some amazingly knowledgeable people on the subject including the executive director of the Gnome foundation and Matt Mullenweg from WordPress. In the end we decided that the MIT really wasn't what we wanted because it didn't help in any way to foster our community. Instead we decided to release Vanilla & Garden under the GPL, just as Vanilla 1 was released.

Dual-License Model

Despite the fact that we love the GPL, we know that it can be limiting for enterprise customers. For this reason we are also offering a proprietary license for customers that cannot abide by the rules of the GPL. If you are in need of our proprietary license, please contact us directly at: licensing [at] vanillaforums [dot] com.
