Product RoadMap

This roadmap is not in order of priority. The priority will shift as need & demand arises.

  • VanillaForums.com Checkout - A top priority right now, we need to allow vf.com customers to upgrade their accounts to remove ads and add premium features.
  • Big User Table - A central table where all users who take part in our hosted forums have central accounts.
  • VanillaForums.com Support Forum - A support forum for VF.com hosting customers.
  • VanillaForums.com Blog - A blog where VF.com hosting customers can get the latest news on what's happening on our hosted forums.
  • 2 new Vanilla themes - We are reaching out to our community to build some new themes which can showcase how fantastic our new theming engine is in Vanilla. These will be featured in VF.com and greatly help to promote the product to customers and developers alike.
  • 1 New plugin, feature, or upgrade every week - Our goal is to make sure that we have one big plugin, feature, or upgrade to announce every week.
  • UI improvements for administrators - We've been getting feedback from our users about UI and usability improvements we can make to the product. We plan to implement the best of these regularly.
  • Competitor import scripts - We are working on a generic import engine that will allow us to import data from our competitor's databases and port customers onto our platform.
  • Single sign-on - We need to thoroughly test our single sign-on feature so that it can be quickly and easily implemented for VF.com hosting customers.
  • "Pages" plugin - The "Pages" plugin will allow VF.com customers to create and manage complete web pages so that their forum can be a complete web presence.
  • Vanilla 2 Bugfixes & Crash Stache - We are continually working through issues that our community developers and users are reporting to us, and we are also implementing a "Crash Stache", which is the equivalent to Twitter's "Fail Whale" - a user-friendly screen that appears when fatal errors are encountered.
  • Vimeo & YouTube Embeds - Small but necessary feature that needs to be implemented.
  • VanillaForums.com Scaling - We're upgrading our hosting setup to allow for scale.
  • Internationalization and Localization Site - We are going to use our platform to create a translation management application that our communtiy can use to generate and manage translations for Vanilla and all of the plugins and applications created with it.
  • Open-source the Addons site - We are going to be moving our addon site to GitHub and allowing the community to submit changes & fixes.
  • Email Notifications - We want to add email notifications & preferences to conversations, mentions, discussions, comments, activities, etc.
  • Documentation - Complete the platform documentation.
  • Requirements Checker - Need to add a page to the beginning of the installer that checks to be sure that the system meets the requirements for V2.
