Ah - that makes sense, thank you. How could I go on to modify that to not show any posts beneath the category headings, and instead show statistics about the amount of topics & posts, and the category description, a la phpBB3?

Did anything become of this? I've had a bit of a search around and looked through the Vanilla 2 settings, but alas no joy :(
