svn ++;
Hey mark, if you want, I'd be happy to set up an svn account on my box. I'll give you shell access and what not, but likewise, you're not getting root on it. I already have various repositories set up there, and plenty of bandwidth for i…
I also like safari. I find it actually faster than Firefox. rendering AND key response. And it's not because i have a slow computer (g5 2.5Ghz with ..plenty of ram).
That said, Safari is mostly standards compliant and getting better. There is s…
or even ... stuart++;
I second that idea. Actually mark, I'm just waiting for the next revision while I read through the mounds of documentation that's already been finished.
Hoping to see all the improvements that people have suggested and hopin…
Thanks lament. Keep the posts coming. This stuff is useful for schlubs like me that don't have the time (or are too lazy) to read the documentation or trounce through the css.
I've been meaning to look at some stuff, but work has been eating me a…
Yeah. 5k (1 byte per character or if it's unicode then 2 or 4 then 10k or 20k respectively) should keep the bandwidth down. 5k characters is quite a lot. IIRC, an average page is about 2000 characters (including spaces). So you're talking about…
Really want it. Because allowing this would of course other post format filters. It would be nice to have post format and pre-format filters.
SmartyPants, Smilies, some sort of censoring plugin, etc..would all be examples of these filters.
to clarify for lech, what mini means...let's say i'm on page 3 of the discussions and i'm reading. and i click into a discussion and read. when i click on the link "back to discussions" it should take me to the 3rd page of discussions, not the 1st…
Yeah. Opera is not fully compliant with the standards that the AJAX suite of technology comprises. I learned this while reading some documentation about AJAX.
There should also be something next to his name saying that the user has been deleted on the posts he's made.
@oraneguru
Out of curiosity, what legal reasons?
@jsanders
yeah, that sounds about right.
yeah. because i would think that your user wouldn't be removed from the database, since the posts you've made are linked to your user and removing the user would break them.
Why?!
nodnod. yeah, though I'm a big fan of using the database. but ideally it should be simple to change how the entries are stored
Yeah, i'd like to write an OO blog software, that's clean and as extensible as vanilla. But everyone needs to start so…
subterrane, well, i'll looked at it. I'd like to take a more indepth look. But as I mentioned in another thread, I want to wrap my head around some AJAX, and then I want to see what I can do with it. I'd definitely wouldn't mind having some work …
Hmm i have no problems with typing fast...but i have problems on safari 2.0 (412) on OS X 10.4 where the list doesn't update. I type "mar" and sometimes the list comes up and sometimes it doesn't. sometimes it has 5 choices sometimes it has one.

Hmm so I'm interested in writing "vanilla blog".
@chris or anyone else...
Want to point me towards some links where i can learn more about AJAX? It's been a while since I've done serious web coding. I mostly do just enterprise level php databas…
@nathan
actually, it's available in previous versions of mac os x. pre 10.4 didn't have the application called dictionary. dictionary is just another hook into this system wide spell checking.
@ichigo
seriously, i want all of my "stuff" in my apartment to be tagged. so i can search for "tv" somehow and it will show me where my remote is in my apartment. Now that would rock. Being able to just find everything.
Hmm, now where did I leav…
Don't assume that's the only reason you get sent to the SignIn URI. That's just one way to get sent there. We have to elimiate all of the other possibilities before we assume that's the cause.
(again, I haven't looked at the sign in/session/cook…
stomp, are you signing in anywhere else? Hmm I wonder why? It might be session thing. I haven't looked at the code for how vanilla does sessions, i do know that it does use sessions.
Just a thought. Though I could be waaaaay off base.
I have no problem here, on ohhello or on my own installation. The only thing that logs me out is if I sign into the forum from a different location.
If I sign in today, and then come back tomorrow to this computer, i'm still logged in. However, i…
Yeah seriously. You could even do something like SixApart does which is _still_ give away the software for free for personal use. But then any sort of commercial use costs money.
That said, I'd be glad to pay $5 or $10 for good blog software/foru…
