In case anyone is following this discussion, there is now a newer release of Vanilla 1:

@fmimoso: Yeah man, it's gonna be cool :) The code is almost ready to release but I'm waiting to launch it with the new website. I'll announce it in this forum when it's done
@Todd: Thanks for the consideration :) I don't think it matters much because the Vanilla 1 part of the addons site seems to be broken anyway (for new addons). I don't seem able to download any of the newer ones http://vanillaforums.org/addon/browse/…
@johansonlocker: I assume you're using Vanilla 2 in which case I can't help, but just in case in Vanilla 1 the Notifi extension offers a setting to enable BBCode in emails
@stinger: The issues I had with version 2 have probably been fixed now and I think Vanilla 2 is good and worth trying.
I think Vanilla 1 is still a worthy alternative and it is best to try both to see which you prefer :)
I run a lot of websites on…
@stinger: Yes, you can change to Vanilla 2 if you want. There is a tool available for download somewhere (used to be on this website, might still be) that converts the Vanilla 1 database to Vanilla 2.
I haven't had success with Vanilla 2 personally …
@stinger: If you made CSS changes to the main theme they will be overwritten (as they always would in an update, since those are core files), but if you created a new theme before editing it you'll be OK.
Like you said, if the update doesn't work yo…
@stinger: If you haven't done the update already, I have built a newer update for you which improves the update checker again. You can download it here
@stinger: Yes, you will need to manually update with the file I posted in order for updating to work in the future. Update checking won't work again in 1.1.8 because the update URL and code have been changed, it will only work in the upcoming releas…
@Todd: Thanks for letting me know.
@stinger: That error indicates your server has not been configured properly.
Older versions of PHP didn't require you to set your timezone, so people could get away with it, but a recent update (if I remember corr…
@luc: Yeah that's probably r984 and r985 in which dinoboff changed line endings to fix problems he was having with applying patches.
I'm also going to remove the version number from the files in the next release since that is annoying for those usin…
@fmimoso: Cheers :) I've also registered a new domain for it since I hope to keep developing it but I'll post about that once it's up and running.
I haven't had any problems updating my 1.1 installations to 1.2, no database changes that I can remem…
@Lincoln: That would be awesome, thanks. If he or you could also get me the page at http://lussumo.com/updatecheck/default.php so I can update the URL on the next release that would be great. I could work out its code but no point writing something …
Yeah, I could easily change it so that future versions look at a different address, but the current versions of the forum will still look at the older address so that doesn't help us much
I had this problem and it was because the "log in" permission wasn't enabled by default by the porter. I think they fixed that in later versions but you might want to check if that's the case for some reason
Sure, I released the latest version a couple of months ago and there will be others in the future :)
