Hi! This forum uses buttonbar.
I'll try to contibute with this also.
I have had my board invitation only, recently I turned it to allow registrations via confirmation email. I did test it creating a new account, and did notice that 'nag'. I think the thing that confuses here, as a usability sense, is that there's a x in the notification popup.
X usually means that once you click it, you close something and it goes away. In this case the nag keeps repeating, untill you actually confirm your email address. So a quick fix to this would be to lose the x from the popup since the confirmation is really meant to be done by clicking an link in a email message.
There might be some bug also but could this be because user has been confirmed as member via admin panel but he/she never actually clicked the link in their email?
Agree with @peregrine and @aery, the comment box is too small as a default.
I think quote button should be visible all time. I understand the need to hide the clutter, quote is not one of it. Only kids usually like minesweeping and that's why it's not good usability to hide most important pieces.
Paging at the top improves usability, very good. But from where I navigate to All discussions? Absolutely no idea.
With reactions I have very mixed feelings. If a post has 10 likes, will there then be 10 avatars in a row underneath the post? That will not look very good. In fact...
With the discussion view, I think the indication of read topic is bit dominant and the contrast with it's font and background color too weak. There must be the séance plugin in effect? Previous way was much more subtle, thou personally I don't see this to be even important feature at all.
Also contrast between links and text is too tiny.
That said this was a nice surprise! And colors are very Vanillaish and pretty to my liking.
^ 17 and these all are somewhat cherry picked after testing and time. Some make usability better, several others extend forum features ('Quotes', 'Last edited', 'Split / Merge FE'). So not even sure, if I could give up many. Haven't much noticed any performance issues. With the plugins I'm using, only 'I like This' and 'Who's Online' use database.
This is a great topic! I am really interested of hearing, since do not understand much the coding part, how much does it matter, if something is done within the core versus with addon.
