I'm working on a pretty big project which I want to integrate with Vanilla 2 and was wondering how hard it would be to display a certain discussion on a website.

So for example, I have an article posted on my website. Instead of using an external comment system, I want to use Vanilla 2 for comments. So if I create a dedicated discussion for this particular article, is there a way to show it in the article and allow people to add their comments without leaving that article page?

Any comments and suggestions are appreciated.

Locale & translations http://www.vanillaforums.org/discussion/9899/locale-translations Thu, 03 Sep 2009 16:40:33 -0600 Spone 9899@/discussions Hello there!

I'm starting an early French (fr-FR) translation of Garden and Vanilla 2. I've understood that all the translations have to be in the proper application/plugin locale/ folder.

I need a list of all the strings I have to translate. Does such a list exist or do I need to create it myself by searching all the calls to Gdn::Translate() method?

Thanks in advance.

Help Needed For Using Vanilla2 On Sub Domain http://www.vanillaforums.org/discussion/10821/help-needed-for-using-vanilla2-on-sub-domain Sun, 14 Mar 2010 07:10:04 -0600 EvanC93 10821@/discussions Hi I was creating a forum for my site that will be open soon. I have had vanilla 1 installed and I deiced I would upgrade to the beautiful vanilla 2. Well installation went great - I made completely new databases - and it installed fine. I had installed in on my existing domain at

http://live.prizepwr.com/

The only error I seem to be getting is when you click an discussion (try to access its url), I get the "Bonk" error page. You can see an example on my site I provided or with the link below

http://live.prizepwr.com/index.php/discussion/1/testing-1-2-3

I think the error lies with the fact that it keeps adding the "/index.php" into the url structure, But I don't know what to do to fix this. Please help with any information that you can.

- Thanks

JQuery plugin updated to v19-1.4.2, gets CKEditor 3.1 http://www.vanillaforums.org/discussion/10699/jquery-plugin-updated-to-v19142-gets-ckeditor-31 Thu, 18 Feb 2010 11:34:53 -0600 [-Stash-] 10699@/discussions Read about the v19-1.4.2 update

Hey everyone, long time no see. I've just updated my JQuery extension for Vanilla 1 to jQuery 1.4.1 and added CKEditor to it. Please everyone have a go and break it, I'm sure it's a little rough around the edges, but it worked for me on Vanilla 1.1.10 so have at it!

CKEditor require HTML Formatter to be installed and enabled, you should also save your sanity and formatting by turning the HTML_CONVERT_NEWLINES option to "0" (zero).

Please let me know what you guys think.

Is there really a need to make 14 http requests for each page before it's even rendered? There's so many calls for separate JQuery files its unbelievable.

Vanilla forum 1.x VS 2.x http://www.vanillaforums.org/discussion/10820/vanilla-forum-1x-vs-2x Sat, 13 Mar 2010 17:14:51 -0600 Admin_IPP 10820@/discussions Hi Everyone, just wanted to get your feedback. We are keen to use Vanilla as our choice of forum, however we're confused which one! I've just actually setup Vanilla Ver 1.x and I enjoyed setting up a few add ons, and installing a cool theme.

But.. should we reconsider and go for Ver 2.x ?

I'd like to get some feedback from users who moved on from Ver 1.x to 2.x.

Thanks!

Vanilla 2 Upgrade http://www.vanillaforums.org/discussion/10808/vanilla-2-upgrade Thu, 11 Mar 2010 15:18:23 -0600 mcard 10808@/discussions I just did a upgrade test from Vanilla 1 to 2 today while preparing our upgraded support center. I noticed just two little issues with the upgrade script:
- There is a typo in the upgrade script that is causing Comments to be loaded into the ConversationMessage table.
- Username from Vanilla 1 is being loaded into the Name field in Vanilla 2, since username isn't used anymore, shouldn't First Name and Last Name be loaded into Name field?

Otherwise everything worked smoothly and with some cleanup to roles and permissions and the addition of url codes for the categories, everythign was ready to go.

Changing category view to traditonal forum type view http://www.vanillaforums.org/discussion/10819/changing-category-view-to-traditonal-forum-type-view Sat, 13 Mar 2010 17:01:21 -0600 halo_12 10819@/discussions This is probably heresy, but has anyone know of a mod for V1 that will show the category and discussion list views etc similar to traditional forums?

Stone throwing may commence, but only after some sensible replies please.... :)

How to move the Not Signed In/Signed In As http://www.vanillaforums.org/discussion/10818/how-to-move-the-not-signed-insigned-in-as Sat, 13 Mar 2010 14:55:31 -0600 amberleighturner2006 10818@/discussions I am working on building a community and I would like to move the Not Signed In/Signed In As area out of the top right hand corner (because it breaks my theme and you can't see it up there).

How would I go about doing this? Mainly, I can't even find what file it is in.

Thanks!

Minogi.com - a different kind of Vanilla Forum http://www.vanillaforums.org/discussion/10625/minogicom-a-different-kind-of-vanilla-forum Tue, 02 Feb 2010 19:36:44 -0600 jonobr1 10625@/discussions Minogi.com

Hey out there Vanilla Community,

I've been working on a website with a couple of my friends over the past couple months. We started development on this site right when Vanilla 2 was coming out and we were very excited about the prospects. Due to deadline in the project however we were unable to use Vanilla 2 and opted for Vanilla 1.1.8

We've appropriated much of what is out of the box in Vanilla as something else (e.g. Groups are actually extended from Categories). You can easily see this based on URL configuration as we haven't hidden anything...yet. We think that this might be one of the more radical uses of a Vanilla Forum. We'd love for you the community to take a look and give us any kind of feedback — we know we've gotten both positive and negative feedback from our client and we know it has it's fair share of bugs :D

Probably more of a reason to check out this site is that we've made some plugins that don't exist that people seem to be asking for on the forums. A few are:

• Groups
• Facebook Connect
• Flickr Image Uploading
• User Activity
• Friends
• et al

Some of these are inherent in Vanilla 2, but for those Vanilla 1ers out there we're still itching to see some progress on that. Anyways, cheers and we look forward to a long-lasting engagement with this community.

Plugin Ideas for Vanilla 2 http://www.vanillaforums.org/discussion/10751/plugin-ideas-for-vanilla-2 Tue, 02 Mar 2010 02:03:12 -0600 Raize 10751@/discussions Vanilla 2 is looking sweeeet. It has such a modern feel, and some very high tech features (while I was typing this a little tab just notified me that a draft of my post has been saved). Wow, all I can say is FINALLY the forum software I've been searching for...so excited for the final product.

My plugin idea for anyone who is thinking ahead, is one that Autoposts to Twitter anytime a new thread is created. It's simple and it's perfect both as a service to current members, and as a way to attract new ones. This would go hand in hand with future social networking opportunities that Vanilla 2 is already poised to take advantage of.

Hope others have some good ideas as well! Cheers
