Vanilla 2.5 release schedule & features
It's been a long year. We branched 2.4 back in January, but it took us until April to announce a beta and then... things stalled. It's increasingly difficult for me to coordinate releases for both cloud and open source, so I put out a request for a release manager to help out, but no one stepped forward. That led me to… -
Re: I'm torn...
@whu606 I assumed as much. But I thought it would be best to engage with those that use the software as they are more likely to provide the good and the bad. I want people with experience on the forum software to comment which has been exactly what's happened. Good tip. I've had it in my head to get a list of things I want… -
Re: Developer Needed , How to find one
I noticed that too. I think it is because they do not understand the software and also the process of development for the software extensions. Also that in most of their minds, they are under the impression that just because you know something well that it should only take 10 minutes to make.... How can they know this if… -
Re: share your forums with Vanilla
Neat idea. 😀 Scifi-Meshes is a pretty cool science fiction 3d art forum. Used to run on vBulletin, but we did a whole big server/software migration 2 years ago. Vanilla 3.3 self hosted on a VPS. Advanced Editor and BBCode for life 😋 As far as customization, there's a few things: Custom theme (well, 7 themes technically: 3… -
Re: Documentation complaints
It seems like above statement is a perennial statement as well, if truth be told and not much change. Its not your fault your staff is lean, but maybe you could get some interns who are gung-ho or volunteers with interest and leeway. this is meant to be constructive criticism even though it might not appear to be.. As far… -
Re: Anyone want to help make the Addon application into a user Showcase application?
They might be up shits creek, open source software requires coding knowledge of at least a basic level or is a speedy learner. There is no way around that. They can see them on tests sites that are set up to see the demo. They can see them on my forums and all my addons have my email and my we site if they need to contact… -
Re: How to use a custom module in a custom theme?
apparently you asked the question before as indicated by the above answer. but you are still not satisfied. here is more info to help you and your kinfolk. you said: I'm more interested in where the class auto loading happens. I have looked at the code, read the tutorials, and searched the discussions. first - lets give… -
Re: Tutorial: How to change wording, How to change text, How to change language. How to change locale

You must upgrade PHP before you can continue.')('You can also ban the users that posted the spam and delete all of their posts.',\n 'Check the box next to the… -
Re: Vanilla 2021.009 update errors
UPDATE I did a fresh install of Vanilla 3.3 then did a basic setup to activate the forum. Then I followed the instructions to the letter to update the forum to 2021.009. I checked that ALL requirements for php (7.3) and all necessary extensions are active. This is hosted on Godaddy apache servers. The link in my Admin… -
Re: Articles Idea: Category-Based Permission Model
It is true that the discussion model can be extended via applications and plugins to add new types based on discussions that could be handled by addons as some plugins currently do. Addons that do so require a dependency on the Vanilla application being installed and enabled. Due to articles being different than…
