Installed ok, but cannot log in

edited February 2010 in Vanilla 2.0 - 2.8
I have installed Vanill at:
http://www.game-towers.com/travian

The front page comes up ok, but whe I try to log in I get the message:
The connection was interrupted =
The connection to www.game-towers.com was interrupted while the page was loading.
* The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.

* If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.

* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

If I retry, the message returns, If I go back to www.game-towers.com, the error message is still there.

If I close the tab , then open another tab, the front page comes up ok, but trying to log in generates the error message again.

Can anyone help?

Regards

Tog

  • It is OK, I found the problem It was trying to log in to https instead of http I wonder why?

Anyway I have resolved it now by changing the settings file.

  • Hi Tog, how did you change the settings. I have the same problem.
  • That is, everyting seems to have installed correctly but every link I click on takes me to an 'https' page and gives me this:

    Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET): Unknown error.

but if I delete the 's' and give the same URL with just 'http' it works fine.

Of course, all this means I can't log in, and neither can anyone else.

    Any suggetions?
  • Check your confg file in the conf directory. Change occurrences of https to http.
  • Thanks [-Stash-], I'll try that on Monday.
