Does Vanilla now have a comment limit?

I'm on a free forum, and I never had this problem before. I now get an error like this: Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 16777216 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 7680 bytes) in /srv/www/vanilla_source/library/vendors/SmartyPlugins/function.custom_menu.php on line 19

Does it mean there are too many posts in a thread?

    Just letting you know, I get a similar error now when I try going to the actual forum. I can't even see the forum now.
