Vanilla2 errors when I use a alternate URL

My vanilla2 forum works fine when I use http://mydomain.com/forum but malfunctions when I use http://forum.mydomain.com.

When I use http://forum.mydomain.com I see the guest home page, but I can't log on. If I click on any of the buttons vanilla2 does strange things. I get no stylesheets and "Page Not Found" results.

It seems to me it's all pointing to the same folder. Can I fix this?

  • Does anyone know how to fix this? Is there a setting somewhere?
  • Look at your .htaccess file.
    In the case you have RewriteBase /forum it could only work with http://mydomain.com/forum

    It depends your serv config. RewriteBase isn't always required.

    If you have an 500 error when removed, it's required. In this case, you have to choose between forum.mydomain.com and mydomain.com/forum
  • Hi Xyo, Thanks for your post. I checked my RewriteBase and it was turned off. Is there a setting which I can try?
  • It depends how you configure your access to your forum.

    your.domain.com => RewriteBase /
    your.domain.com/vanilla => RewriteBase /vanilla/
