Integrating Vanilla comments with a non-wordpress site

We are currently using disqus on our prestashop site (which does not integrate with our current vanilla forum). We would of course much rather integrate vanilla comments on the prestashop site which then link to our vanilla forum.
I understand that there might be an issue with categories and where the comments would be posted in the vanilla forum, however even posting to the root of vanilla forum would be more than satisfactory at this point.
Has anyone managed to get anything like this working?

This will be a feature of the next release (2.1) or the hosted version. Right now, it is not safe to make the switch. However, if you feel lucky you can experiment with this by downloading the latest development build from github. I personally would wait for the beta though.
Also, if you get the comment system working with Prestashop, please let us know and post the step-by-step instructions on VanillaWiki :-)
