  • I can confirm that I had also this issue. I don't remember what I did to repair it.

Can you go confirm this file is present?
    http://www.journography.net/forum/applications/dashboard/design/style.css

The web browser is giving "404 not found" when trying to go there. Make sure you completely uploaded Vanilla correctly.
  • It is definitely there!

Im on an IIS server, does that make a difference?

    I don't think so.

I'm not sure what the issue is, sorry. I'm pretty confident it's something about your setup not allowing that file to be found from the web, though. Maybe file permissions?

You must be playing with it because I saw the CSS file for a moment, then it didn't work, then it was back, and then I got a Bonk error. ;)

    I have had similar issuse

I think your server can't deal with the query string on the end of the CSS.

    Page not found: http://www.journography.net/forum/applications/dashboard/design/style.css?v=2.0.17.10

    Page found: http://www.journography.net/forum/applications/dashboard/design/style.css

That points to an issue with ISS configuration, I think.
  • I have tried reinstalling again, and changing the htacess file to have the rewreitebase as forum and its the same - I have tried turning seo urls off and removing the htaccess all together, but no joy.

When I click on your links now I get the bonk page
  • Im not usre if this is linked but when i look in the plugins i get this...

  • this response is perhaps naive, but no problem directory? That happened to me once, where the directories were misconfigured my server or special configuration.
  • Also turn on your development template by reading this doc:
    http://vanillaforums.org/docs/errors
When I want to look for the CSS file on your site, I get BONK errors and when you want to know the details of the BONK, you have to turn on the development template.

  • I have added the line mentioned and it said a folder was missing, which i have added, and now its back to just not finding it.

Im starting to give up :(

I'm starting to wonder whether you can give more information please

Also see if you can turn off the rewrite urls in the config.php
I forgot the setting for the moment, but since you're on an IIS server...

And by replacing that missing folder you solved the BONK error, so all you need to do is to let the IIS server find the stylesheet.

  • it said a folder in the cache directory was missing.

I have tried changning the rewrite urls to false with no joy. :(

looking at the source of the css page it has this:

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">

    Vanilla 2

    Page Not Found

The page you were looking for could not be found.

its not the usual page not found....
  • Ok, in the template for the filenotfound OR In your main template you need to handcode the path to the stylesheet, the old fashioned style:

Do you not have another host that is not hosting on IIS?
