Poll: Potential new installation requirements for enhanced addon capabilities
Hi everyone! I'm putting out this poll today as I write some new documentation for some new addon capabilities in Vanilla. Some Background As some of you might have seen, some time ago we stopped shipping the git version of Vanilla with prebuilt assets. Since then we've made numerous improvements to the capabilities of an… -
Yet Another vanilla upgrade and duplication tutorial.
Yet another example of upgrading that Here is my experiment for duplicating a forum with a new version of software (tested and worked). My example uses original forum - 2.0.18.8 and duplicated in vanilla 2.2.2.3. end result : new forum with new version had all discussions as old one and worked. Original forum in folder… -

Re: Updated nginx docs
bumping this thread. Did a clean installed today (not used Vanilla in 10 years 😯 ) Nothing seems to happen server { listen 443 ssl; listen [::]:443 ssl; ssl_certificate /etc/dehydrated/certs/domain.nz/fullchain.pem; ssl_certificate_key /etc/dehydrated/certs/domain.nz/privkey.pem; root /var/www/html/domain.nz; server_name… -
Re: Addon Authors: Please Test in 2.1 beta 3+
In addition to Lincoln's and hgtonight's suggestion: * as an aside non-authors users could also state whether a specific plugin worked in 2.1b3, then the author could change description. Since some authors have in excess of 20+ add-ons. * It would help as well. you don't have to be a plugin author to help the plugin author… -
Re: Enhancements and Feedback
I like that plugin, but the way it is done has some drawbacks: By giving each option a unique name, you a) are limited to 10 options and b) have to repeat your code quite often. Using an array would be more useful. You are limiting participation on IP addresses. That way I would be able to vote from my laptop at home, from… -
[V3.3] PM error post-upgrade - how to fix utility/structure output?
Hi there, Yesterday I completed an upgrade / server transfer for a forum that I'm hosting for some friends. We moved from Vanilla 2.1.9 (using PHP5.6) to Vanilla 3.3 (using PHP7.4). I have managed to get most things up and running and most things are working okay, but I am running into some issues around PMs working. They… -
Re: 2021.012 - After update the Body element's visibility is set to hidden
From my understanding that must be some React imbecility. Maybe the workflow should be "hide the page, load components, show page" in order to avoid flickering or something like that. The problem here seems to be that for whatever reason the piece of js which unhides the body is never run. The scss file is gathered in one… -

Re: Merge fixes in GitHub with 3.3
Web apps have become so complicated. I was looing at Google App Engine and it requires you create a YAML file and a composer.json file and running. It took me a good long time to understand the whole process that composer will bring down some common libraries so that you app can function easier.. IE an add on to access…
