Indeed, absolutely lovely, the best style I've seen so far and even manages to (maybe) go one better than the default and the Soulscape themes (although only just ;p).
But still, incredible.
Utterly fantastic, thank you!
It's going to take something very special to top these style imho, there are only two very small niggles I have with it (and one's self induced, and the other's just a matter of personal preferance!) and it's about as close to perfect for me as you could get. <3
// edit - Wait a minute! It still hasn't updated! Haha.
there are some strange issues with the panel. list items are indented but not padded so the second line of text goes all the way to the left edge. i made some replacement css for the panel section if anyone wants to try it. /* Panel */
#Panel { float: left; width: 195px; padding: 10px 15px 0 20px; background: url(panel_fadetop.png) right top no-repeat; }
This theme does not seem to work in Safari: the tabs seem to be out of place for me - they appear INSIDE the white discussion list, instead of over it.
It also does not seem to work with the 'legend' extension - check the large screenshot from the download page.
There is a problem with the tabs. I am running an 800x600 screen. If you are using the page manager extension and have added 2 or more pages, it will kick the last tab to a second line, and totally f up the layout. its somewhat annoying, but i worked around it by eliminating some of my tabs. The nav bar is over the main body, but not over the side panel. It needs to be put over everything if you want more pages in your top nav.
imho, VaneaBlack is the best Vanilla style ;)
Look at these pictures (total: ~ 24kb):
_http://nordelius.net.ru/i/vanea-start-discussion.png
_http://nordelius.net.ru/i/vanea-preview-comment.png
... see what happens when Preview Post v2.1 extension is enabled ...
I'm using VaneaBlack v1.2.1, Vanilla v1.0.1.. Tested in Opera v9.02, Mozilla v1.5.0.7, Internet Explorer 6.0.SP2.
Hm.. see, there's number "0" displayed when discussion topic text is deleted and no comments posted ;)
I have one problem with the Page Management extension in that the Page HTML field is only 2 lines long. This makes it difficult to edit a lengthy bit of html I have for my page. How would I enlarge this field to about 10 lines?
I updated my forum with the latest version and have a question. I now see 2 icons for a discussion: the icon_discussion and the icon_red. What does the icon_red indicate?
Just thinking out loud concerning usability and how a visitor and a registered user will interpret the 2 icons --- What do both icons refer to? Is the first one the discussion itself? Sorry if this appears to be a dumb question but I think that having 2 icons is confusing.
Edit: I noticed that if you change the icon_sticky to add the 5px like the other icons, it displays better.
Another edit (as I test): If you remove the background display of the icon_discussion in the #Discussion css and then add ".NewComments" in front of the ".DiscussionTopic" where the icon_red is displayed, you seem to get a better display of the icons for a user. That is, when you are logged in, you will see the 2 icons display if there is an un-read comment. Then when you read it, you will only see the discussion icon. Visitors to the forum will still see both icons which I think is okay.

blizeH: maybe the new version is that you want.
icouto: sorry, I haven't tested in Safari, so I can't fix the bug so far.
It works with "legend" extention now.
garvin, to solve this problem, please edit the vanilla.css:
search "#Header ul" , change "margin-left: 240px" to "margin-left: 0" or the other number
