Is there anyway of closing forums so that only registered users can view them?

My forum is for writers and various people have said they do not want to upload their writing if guests can view it.

    If you go to your dashboard, under the 'Users' setting click 'Roles & Permissions'

    From there you can just untick all of the 'View' permissions for guests and applicants.
